What does Safari mean?

Swahili word for Journey- normally a geographical translocation but may be of mind and soul too. Stereotypically, a reference to an Africa wildlife viewing holiday.

When is the best time to go on safari?

Africa generally doesn’t have the same four-seasons as in the north, and fluctuates between wetter and dryer times. Your safari dates should be picked based on what you would like to do, and where you would like to go, i.e. if you would like to see the great migration or perhaps see baby animals being born.

How long should my safari be?

Estimate and average of two weeks.

Where can I go on my safari?

Stereotypically safaris are wildlife/cultural focused so any place on our planet with wilderness, wildlife, birdlife and cultural diversity.
Africa is the traditional wildlife safari destination given it’s sheer abundance of biodiversity. Among the safer Africa safari destinations- Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Rwanda. Tanzania is still my preferred ‘safari the way one should’ destination and is still the least crowded. Rwanda, my preferred for Mountain Gorilla treks. Kenya and Botswana have their own unique and stylish approach well worthwhile at certain times of the year. Namibia more the diverse landscape cultural tour. Zambia is all about the Zambezi River.


What can I include in my safari?

How much should I plan to include in my safari?

Africa is almost four times the size of the USA with Tanzania being almost three times the size of California. Improve your gratification and experience with more quality time in fewer places rather than commuting huge distances to tick off destinations.
